Memo from God (Sorry for the delay)

I've completed a sweep
of the area. Conclusion:
the alfalfa greened too soon,
riding winter's sod to ruin.
And spring besotted dogwood plastered
the road, snatching up space
I planned for more redbud.
All in a staggering rush
for Easter photo-ops.

For shame.

Box-elders--
too much too soon--
My inbox is full with red-gold dust,
tissues and complaints.

Rude. That's just rude.

And then Mary's murmur reached Me.
"I did so want one more snow.
A few more days of scrabble,
sweaters and hot cocoa."

(See? I'm listening)

I've tallied up the score
and I agree. It's all moving too fast.
I'm sending down more white stuff ASAP.
I'm sure you'll all adapt.
Oh. And Mary--

You're welcome.

Hiya Mary,
I'm agnostic myself but even I can enjoy a piece like that. No pulpit power-talk, no sermonizing, just a simple easy-to-read poem about a relationship between a human being and her god/God.

Enjoyable read with some subtle humour too - me likes. :-)

Thanks Scotty!
It's been so long since I've written anything resembling a poem I was fraught with self-doubt the whole time. I seem to have lost what litte instinct I ever had for verse (and I can't imagine critting it). Don't think I want to post this one for crits. . .

Still, thinking from that part of my brain felt good.
