Birthday

I turned forty-two today. We celebrated it quietly at home. Gary made me a nice lunch and the two younger kids gave me homemade birthday cards. My second borne brought me a pancake with birthday candles on it this morning (It was charming) and sang Happy Birthday to me. My only complaint? The day is almost over and I have to go back to work tomorrow.

This a big month for our family. My husband's birthday was last week. I share mine with my mother-in-law (yes, it is awkward) and one of my my nephews. My niece's birthday was yesterday and my brother's birthday is next week. Gary and I celebrate our anniversary on the 24th and my younger sister, Amy, is in labor as I type this. Rather than attend a marathon of birthday parties, we will all gather at my brother's house this weekend for a family celebration.
