Spiders.

Sometime over the weekend my husband was bitten by one of these just below his ribcage. By Sunday evening he had a sizeable welt with a black center. By early AM he was quite ill.

After an expensive trip to the doctor and even more expensive antibiotics, he is on the mend, though last night was fairly rough.

Naturally this had to happen while we were between health insurance companies, thanks to his new employer's policy concerning new employees (sixty day waiting period). Oh. And no paycheck this week.

Generally this guy is healthy and he rarely needs a doctor, but this summer he's been sick several times. Not counting yesterday, he's had to see the doctor twice within the last month, a different issue both times. I asked the doctor if his warranty was up and if it was time to trade him in on a newer model. The doctor said this kind only gets more expensive with age, but he's probably worth another thousand miles of maintenance. :)

Ouch, sorry to hear that, Mary - hope he feels better soon. You might want to fix that link though; you've got http x 2 in there and it don't take ya to Wiki, lol.

We don't require more maintenance as we get older, we become classics...

I asked Steve the other day (after he got yet another infection) if he was covered by lemon laws. He said that since I'd had him for 10 years the laws didn't apply. :D

The bite sounds awful. Best wishes for his speedy recovery.

My husband appreciated the comments.

He's better today, which is a good thing because he's got to go back to work tomorrow. I'm still worried about the bite itself, which still looks pretty awful.
