The New Norm

‎"Remember son, you have two homes. Where are you are and where we are" are the words Gary left Jeremiah with when we parted company outside his dorm today. Me, I was too busy weeping to say anything deep.

He will be back on some weekends. He'll come home for the holidays. He's only an hour away. But we all know that this is leaving by degrees. A giant step toward becoming a visitor.

I was so not ready for this.

When I read your title, I thought of Cheers. "NORM!!"

Just think, your water bill will go down now! :)

"...sunrise, sunset;swiftly flow the days. seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers, blossoming even as we gaze...wasn't it yesterday when they were small?..."

I hear ya, Mary - I think it's harder on the Mum than it is the Dad but it looks like you've (both) turned out a good 'un and I'm sure that despite any new-found freedoms, he'll always have a hankering to come home.

He'll be fine, you've raised him well :)

I know. I know. I bawled as hard at the leaving of the first as I did the leaving of the last. Even if they're ready to fly, I never seem to be ready for it to happen.

Mrs C--LOL. My food bill already has.

Eileen--Thank you very much and I really appreciate knowing you'll be thinking of me.

Scotty--I dunno. I think Gary had a lot harder time with it than I did, he just didn't boo-hoo in front of anyone except me. :)

Ro--Thanks.

Debby--Thank you for validating how I'm feeling. I've been surprised at the number of people who waved us off and saying, "Ohh! You'll get used to it before you know it!"
