Xbox Directions

The DVD player on the computer connected to the living room TV is worn out and we haven't had a chance to replace it so we've been using the Xbox, which the boys got for Christmas. Gary and I haven't quite worked out how to use it yet and often have to ask for help. Last night, my very technologically challenged husband asked Sam--once again--to walk him through setting it up so he could watch Comanche Moon later on in the evening.

Sam decided to go one better. He typed up directions and left them on the computer desktop for him to find later. His father tells me that his son may be missing his calling as either a technical writer or a comedian.

HOW TO WATCH A MOVIE ON THE XBOX

1. TURN ON THE XBOX.

2.OPEN THE DVD DRIVE.

3. PUT THE DVD IN.

4. CLOSE THE DVD DRIVE.

5. TURN ON THE CONTROLLER--TO DO THIS YOU MUST PRESS THE BIG 'X' BUTTON IN THE MIDDLE. YOU CAN'T MISS IT!

6. WAIT! DON'T THROW IT OUT A WINDOW IF IT DOESN'T START IMMEDIATELY.

7. ONCE ALL OF THE PREVIEWS ARE DONE, YOU CAN CLICK 'PLAY' ON THE MENU IF YOU PRESS THE BIG GREEN 'A' BUTTON.

8. IF YOU HAVE ANYMORE PROBLEMS, THEN PLEASE CALL 1-800-I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS. THEN, ONCE WE FINALLY ANSWER, WE WILL LAUGH VERY HARD AND HANG UP.

FAQ
Where, exactly, is the DVD drive and how is it opened?
I keep pushing the power button and nothing happens. Do I need to plug it in? Isn't this thing battery powered? It has fresh batteries.
I followed the instrucitons and still can't watch my DVD! I'll just turn on the TV and watch DWTS.

Debby--I'm worried about the day the last kid leaves the house. What gadgets will we have to learn to run on our own?

Wes--LOL. :)
