The Big One

I have a long time online friend named John Palmer who recently joined the blogging world. Never one to waste time on small talk when there's something profound to say, he's chosen death as the topic of his first entry. John "gets" death and how and why it affects us the way it does--apart from the obvious pain of the loss. When I was watching Gary go into a tailspin after the loss of a friend and I didn't know how to help, John was able to shed some light on the subject. When I lost a friend of my own sometime later, he was there again.
