flooding

This is a view of an inlet that feeds into Table Rock lake, which is about five minutes on foot from where we live. See the trees in the water? Ordinarily, you can ford the nearest part of this inlet on foot. At the moment, a boat would be a better idea. It's not a great shot; I need more practice climbing rocks with bifocals on.

While our little town is largely unscathed because of its elevation, some aren't as lucky. The Galena MU Extension office I used to work in suffered a fair amount of water damage and many of its residents have gone to a shelter located in a local church.

Sadly, a few folks across the Ozarks have drown attempting to cross flooded roads and bridges or simply by standing on crumbling earth at the edge of the rush. My heart goes out to the family who lost the nineteen year old who simply got too close.

I did not get a chance to watch the news, but am very glad your family is okay. Careful on water covered roads. Glad to hear you live in a high place. So do I.

I live on the side of a hill. Otherwise, I think we'd be waist deep in water now.

Oh, and I've been in bifocals since I was 10. You really do get used to them eventually! :)

Keep your powder dry and your glasses on the end of your nose.

Thanks Debby.

Julie-Ten? I didn't even know kids wore them. And I thought I had gotten used to them until yesterday.
