Not cursed. Just working class

We've got a strange week ahead with a husband laid off and trying to make due with odd jobs. Additionally, I'm home more than usual because I wiped out all my alotted hours last week at the three day annual conference (I'm only paid for twenty hours, regardless of how many I work) so I'm taking all but a few hours on Thursday off this week. I'll more than make up for the downtime next week.

Sooo . . . I've got all these plans: to clean up the clutter in my bedroom, edit "Troubled_Waters", teach the younger boys how to make God's Eyes, do all the laundry and bathe all the dogs. The question is--will I actually get it all done . . .

As a family--referring to my Mom and Stepfather and all my four brothers and sisters and their spouses and kids--we all seem to have hit the same rough patch at the same time. Broken down cars and/or laid off (or weather dependent jobs), worrying about making mortgage or rent payments, trying to keep everyone fed and clothed on a shoe string. As we've all held our own pretty well until the last couple of years, I asked my mom if we'd inadvertantly angered gypsies lately and she laughed and told me that as she is the resident gypsy (I didn't know she knew I called her that behind her back--hope she doesn't find out about the other one) she's sure we aren't cursed, just working class.

My husband has resumes out at several places and we're treading water right now, but this is getting old fast. Something will give--it always does. I don't doubt it for a second, but meanwhile, I'm contemplating crossing my mom's palm with silver and sewing fern into the hem of my skirt. I'm not a gypsy, but it couldn't hurt, right?
