Sequel to "Want a Puppy"

My husband surprised me this morning while watching my second borne and Joy, the puppy, playing together. I got emotional as watched Daniel and Joy together and told him that I wished there was room for her. He choked up a little as he told me how stupid it would be to keep another dog in our already overfull household. He then pointed out that we have two older dogs and one old cat(Random is sixteen, Solomon is eight and a half, and Delilah, the cat, is twelve going on thirteen). He let out a long sigh and said, "She can stay."

I nearly fell out of my chair. Mind you, I've already run the flyers and was ready to hang them up today. I am soft-hearted, but practical. "What? Are you sure?"

"O hell, Mary, look at them."

Daniel faces issues the other boys don't. He always gets where he's going, but it's invariably different than the rest of the world. He learns differently, thinks differently and acts differently. Adolescence has been hard for him; other teenagers don't understand him, including his own older brother. But he's got a huge heart and he needed something to fill it. I've never seen a dog and a person better suited to one another.

Anyway, here's a picture of Joy, in case you've ever wondered what it looked like.
