Sam's 9th birthday

Because money's been so terribly tight lately (and it isn't going to get better any time soon), I was really sweating Sam's birthday and how on earth we were going to afford it.

We explained to him that it was going to be a tight year and that these happen sometimes. Then we asked him what he wanted.

"Are lincoln logs too expensive?" he asked. "Cause that's really the only thing I want. Well, and maybe some matchbox cars--if you can."

As you can see--his response to getting what he wanted was fantastic.

The look on their faces is priceless, isn't it?

Happy Birthday, Sam. :-)

Sam says thank you. I told him a man from Australia had wished him a happy birthday and he had to go identify where you were at.

Very cool way to learn geography.
